IOMMU Enforced - DMA in danger

So today gamerdoc made a post regarding dma on twitter/X: Link

They have fully enforced iommu and its still slowly rolling out for all users, some are still playing fine with firmware that works around iommu but i think its motherboard dependant. I know ace is even detecting memory reads from cheats so they are having a even tougher time with dma cheats. What are your thoughts on this? They are claiming dma is finally dead 2016-2025. Im sure eac will follow up soon but they are probably 1-2 years behind this type of technology use but we will have to see how things play out.

I dont think the blocker for EAC is technology... IOMMU is not supported by a vast number of CPUs and motherboards. If Fortnite were to enforce IOMMU, it would mean a large number of the playerbase likely cannot play all of a sudden. Just look at the secure boot fiasco with BF6. Valorant and ACE have the ability to do this because both games are not really as popular at all as Fortnite, and in the case of Valorant, they have, since their inception basically, enforced a lot of rules already make it such that the playerbase needs to have up-to-date hardware. I kind of doubt that this IOMMU enforcement has locked anyone from playing the game. But for fortnite? Definitely it will.

The question for me is why these ACs don't have the ability to enforce IOMMU on hardware that can support it. Like if youre playing on a 2025 mb+cpu, they would know what since they know your specs obviously, and they should be able to enforce that you have IOMMU on because your shit supports it. Weird

Because the Bios option only enable the opportunity to use iommu features. If they are not used it has no impact at all.

Because of valorant devs posts and what itha also said about it - I believe they are only enforcing it now but eventually it will be a danger when they can restrict dma devices outside of game memory regions, will be interesting to see what happens then

You guys wanna test your iommu bypass fw against iommu? install debian actiavte vbs and iommu and try to read mem. upsi.

yeh atm no but i heard pubg was doing something regarding it with vtd on intel, apparently they were able to detect reads and people with hptt got bans as well. I know direct also got banned on pubg lol.
